The
Numark
CDN-34 professional CD players
have dozens of great features for
the DJ, but the most important one for you is the electronic shock protection that assures
you that the music will continue, even if someone bumps the table.
To taylor the sound to your room, I've added an Alesis Parametric Equalizer.
The Sonic Maximizer uses discrete micro-second phase delay to provide a clear and open sound similar to band.
The system is powered by a Stewart PA-1800 amp delivering a constant 650 watts per speaker. This allows for plenty of headroom, eliminating any chance for distortion. This amp is a dual-mono configuration. It's actually two separate amps in one case, so that even if one amp fails, a flick of a switch allows the party to continue with little interruption.
All sound sources come
through a Soundcraftsman
MX-400 DJ Mixer with digital memory. I
picked this mixer because of its exceptional signal to noise ratio, meaning you hear more
music and less pre-amp noise.
The DJ mic is an EV-257 N/Dyn. My wireless mic is an Audio-Technica Digital Reference UHF True
Diversity System providing
long range with less chance of interference.
Connected to this core group of electronics is a set of speakers. My site survey and physical location determines which speakers at a particular event.

The Yorkville Pulse 3-way cabinets have 15" woofers for bass punch, horn loaded mid-range speakers for vocal clarity & horn loaded tweeters for high end sparkle. I use these for medium to large dance floors when I have to setup away from the dancers.
One of the sweetest speakers ever designed was the Cerwin Vega V-15B!
I've
complete refurbished these classic 3-way cabinets and use them for medium to
large dance floors when close to the action.
For smaller rooms I use Bose
802 speakers. Each cabinet has 9
drivers to provide a wide, rich sound field, without taking up a lot of room.
All primary speakers are mounted on stands so a strong, focused sound field covers the dance floor while still allowing conversation in the rest of the room.
This
compact system fits nicely on a standard DJ table. There are no wires hanging over
the front and there are no signs or banners to distract from the event. All wires are
taped down for safety.
